Georgia State University’s College of the Arts is a new academic unit that will focus on education in arts and related media, promote creativity and respond to the changing needs of artists, on- and off-campus. The college, which will open in July 2017, will include the School of Music, the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design, Film, MEDIA and Theatre, the Center for Collaborative and International Arts (CENCIA) and the Center for Educational Partnerships from the School of Music. These units are currently part of the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

The Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University seeks applicants for one limited-term faculty position in Art History with a specialization in Early Modern (Renaissance and Baroque) Art to begin August 2017. We seek exceptional artists and educators who will join our team of vibrant, creative professionals that includes 30+ full-time faculty in art, design, and art history serving over 1000 art & design majors across nine separate disciplines. The Limited Term faculty member will teach mixed-level undergraduate/graduate courses, and possibly a graduate-level seminar. Emphasis will be on Early Modern (Renaissance and Baroque) Art, although one or two courses may be in areas of Art History outside of this. Teaching Load will be 3 courses in Fall 2017 and 3 courses in Spring 2018. Applicants must possess a PhD at the time of appointment or at least be of ABD standing. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is highly desirable. This Limited Term faculty position is benefits-eligible.

Limited-Term faculty positions are defined as faculty positions of one academic year duration. Appointments may be renewable for up to two years of full-time employment and include benefits.
