Job Description
The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) in the College of Art and Humanities at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks to fill two nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer positions to teach in an expanding program in digital media with responsibilities located at both UCF main campus and the downtown Center for Emerging Media. The duties include teaching a four-course load per semester in addition to service. The anticipated start date is August 2018.

Teaching responsibilities include contributing to the mission of the Digital Media department in appropriate areas of scholarship. Appropriate specializations may include areas such as development or design focuses in interactive media, web mobile, and game, or areas within digital media.

SVAD is a large, diverse unit with several majors and minors in the following areas of study: animation, architecture, art history, digital media, film, game design, graphic design, information design, applied design, and studio art. UCF SVAD offers the following degrees: Architecture (B.Des.), Art (B.S., B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A.) Digital Media (B.A., M.A., and M.F.A.), and Film (B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A.). Position Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (for an instructor) or a terminal degree (e.g., M.F.A. or Ph.D. in an appropriate field) (for a lecturer) from an accredited institution by the time of hire.
  • Possess teaching experience or have demonstrated evidence of teaching-related activities such as workshops, training, or scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills.

Preferences

  • Ideal candidates will possess experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Demonstrate either teaching experience with large classes or a background including training in teaching such as coursework and assistantships.
  • Possess a variety of skills and interest in digital media production, with a demonstrated ability to master new tools and platforms.
  • Demonstrate experience in collaborative digital projects and practices.
