The Department of Art & Art History at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. The candidate who fills this position will have an opportunity to work closely with the department’s growing Digital Arts program and collaborate with students and faculty from Art & Art History, Computer Science, and other departments involved in digital arts courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital media, with emphasis on computer graphics, graphical user interface and user experience design, and 3D animation as well as current practices in the broader field of digital art. Those could include, but are not limited to: sound, video, animation, coding, interactive media, or web-based work. Knowledge of Adobe CC and Autodesk Maya software and prior teaching experience at the college level is required. We are looking for candidates that show potential for excellence in research and teaching, and have an active exhibition or practice in their field.

Minimum Requirements

Master of Fine Arts degree or terminal degree in a digital art-related area required. Prior teaching experience at the college level required.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The department of Art & Art History currently has 12 full-time faculty members and offers a B.A. degree in studio art, a B.A. degree in art history as well as a B.A in digital arts in collaboration with the department of Computer Science, offering collaborative opportunities for the candidate to offer cross-disciplinary courses and research.
